What is covert containment?
It’s non-physical containment, a form of control that limits an individual. Although the cage is not physical, it’s still present — very much present.
Examples of covert containment include smear campaigns, banning, ostracizing, coercive control, and misdiagnoses.
Why?
Because it constrains the voice, access, identity, credibility, and choice so the individual self-limits.
Concluding note:
You cannot heal your oppressor, but you can awaken to the oppression.
